Test Fixture - ATK Series
The ATK-series of fixtures have a low cost cassette system Low Cost Cassette System This fixture is designed to meet the requirements from customers with several low volume series of PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards). The cost reduction is achieved by a cassette system. Every PCB has its own cassette holding test probes, test electronic, power supply etc. When another series of PCBs must be tested the cas sette and the retention gate is exchanged. Functional Test and Repair The test fixture is intended for both functional test and repair. Basic Function The test fixture has two basic functions. It fixes the PCB accurately on the test probes and then presses the PCB against the test probe springs. A high test probe spring pressure from many probes is compensated by a mechanical exchange in the fixture handle. How to Operate When a PCB is tested a typical sequence looks like this: - A PCB is placed in the fixture
- The cover is closed
- When the test is finished the cover is opened
- The tested PCB is removed
Cassette System The purpose of the cassette is two fold. It holds the test probe plate and it contains the test electronic when needed. At the back of the cassette plugs for power and interfaces to external test equipment may be mounted. To switch to another cassette is fairly simple and takes less than a minute. Lift and remove the cassette and insert another cassette. The retention gate is exchanged with another one without the use of tools. Access to Test Electronic Electronic test equipment may be mounted in the cassette. The cassette is designed for easy access to is interior. Both the front, top and back, bottom panels may be removed as needed. The front panel is inteded for switches and LEDs and the back panel holds interface cables to external equipment and power. Preventive Maintenance No preventive maintenance except for cleaning and replacement of test probes is required. Overall Superior Test Solution Beyond the easy and fast operation the fixture has advantages as - Excellent ergonomics
- Low cost cassette system
- A cabinet suitable for built-in of electronic test equipment
- No need for vacuum connections
- Test of both panels and single PCB's
- Both functional test and repair
- Easy switch of cassette for test of another type of PCB
- The test fixture is easy to move
